Stored boxes can contain records, photographs and valuables. Open and label uncertain boxes before a removal date. Keep a separate zone for anything another person must review.

Check before the removal date

Photograph the stairs and access door. Tell the provider about low ceilings, steep steps, heavy items and any material you cannot identify.

Quick checklist

• Separate what stays from what goes.
• List the large or difficult items.
• Check the route from each room to the exit.
• Confirm the date and who will provide access.
