What to measure before furniture removal
Measure the furniture and the narrowest part of its exit route.
Start with the facts
Measure the furniture and the narrowest part of its exit route.
Record the item’s height, width and depth. Then measure the door opening, hallway turn and stair landing it must pass. For a sofa, also note whether legs or sections detach.
Check before the removal date
Do not force a heavy item through a tight space. Share the measurements and photos with the provider so they can assess the route and equipment.
Quick checklist
- Separate what stays from what goes.
- List the large or difficult items.
- Check the route from each room to the exit.
- Confirm the date and who will provide access.
